Port Maputo is located in southwestern Mozambique, south of the Mozambique Channel. It sits at the left shore of Matola river, and is made up of two important areas, namely Maputo Commercial Port and Matola Industrial Site.
Port Maputo encompasses terminals for Fishing, Cabotage, General Cargo, Coal, Fruits, Sugar, Containers, Steel and also Molasses Tankers, across a total of about 3,876 meters. The Ore Pier consists of the terminals for Coal, Oil, Cereals and Aluminum, with a total length of 865 meters.
Currently, Port Maputo has a cargo handling capacity of approximately 17,000,000 metric tons per year.
